The Abbey is ready and waiting for new residents. No, not that Abbey; we’re talking about a new adaptive reuse apartment project in Koreatown.
Constructed in 1927 as an office building, the structure, located at the corner of 6th and Normandie, has been refurbished and converted into 110 units of housing ranging from 550 to 1,069 square feet. According to an announcement from developer Jamison Services, half of the apartments have already been preleased, with the rest expected to fill up by the end of the year.
Amenities for residents of The Abbey include a fitness center and large rooftop deck with barbecue areas, seating, fire pits, and a bocce ball court. Pricing for units appears to run from $1,800 to $3,600.
Jamison has been extraordinarily busy in the area lately. One of the largest office landlords in the state, the company recently entered the multifamily development game and hasn’t wasted any time converting or replacing many of its properties with residential and mixed use projects.
Most of these are still in the planning or construction process, and The Abbey is only the second residential project Jamison has completed so far. Among the company’s most visible projects under construction right now are twin 36-story towers in South Park and a seven-story apartment building going up just a few blocks away from The Abbey on Wilshire Boulevard.
